As it was last year, the tournament will be held at the Rio Hotel & Casino
I haven’t, yet, decided which event (or events) I am entering, but I will be around the Rio most days. If you are going to be there too, let me know.
If you are a company, wanting a player to sponsor, by all means get in touch - I am open to most all realistic offers.
Full information about the schedule can be read at the official press release by Harrahs Entertainment.
Shuffle up and deal!
My Wish List
I have just discovered what I want for my next gift. An Apple iPhone.
I don’t have, and have never had, any Apple products in the past. No, not even an iPod, but after seeing this video, I want one of these phones!

Your Key to a Poker Fortune!
Are you serious about making money at online poker?
Yes.
Then there is only one place that you should start - and that’s Party Poker.
Why?
Well, basically, there are two main reasons:
1 - PartyPoker.com is the biggest poker site in the world by far. It has over 70,000 players on the site every single day playing poker and the number is growing all the time, because of the TV poker coverage and the massive publicity the game is generating.
2 - Out of these massive numbers of daily players online at Party Poker, a very high percentage are either absolute beginners or woefully inexperienced poker players. This represents a fantastic opportunity for anyone who is willing and able to learn a basic strategy.
There is a proven method for winning at Party Poker. Not some crappy theory that somebody has dreamt up without even playing on the site, but an actual working system that you can take and use to clean up at Party Poker.
If you want to take your poker profits to the next level and make a serious income from the game we all love, Click here to learn more about making a living by playing at Party Poker.
P.S. This isn’t cheating Party Poker in any way (they still get their money), but with this information to hand you will be making so much money that you will almost certainly feel like a bit of a Party Poker cheat!
The Worst Poker Room on the Net
In my opinion the worst poker room on the internet is….
You probably haven’t heard of it. Don’t be suprised. The advertising is non-existant. Ex-players (like myself) will not promote it and it seems the management is happy with its current ‘community’ of players.
Some of my reasons for disliking it:
- It is a very ‘cliquey’ site. I was a member for over 2 years, but was never really “welcome”. Because of this, most newcomers don’t stay long
(The average players on site is only about 700). - The lack of players means waiting ages to get a game.
(Unless you want to play 1c/2c NL Hold’em) - The majority of players that ARE there, collude with each other during cash games and tournaments.
(My suspicions… support would, of course, not confirm it was happening) - The software is flawed
(Again, this is only my suspicion. The pokerroom manager says they have had it “certified”) - The support is biased towards “old-time” members.
(Noticed through personal experience and observance)
It is not just me that thinks the above… here are some reviews from respected poker-review sites.

Win an Aston Martin DBS

Yes, the same car that James Bond drives in the new film, Casino Royale, could be yours!
PokerStars are rewarding their players with a freeroll tournament (PokerStars ‘Frequent Player Points’ buyin) to win an Aston Martin DBS.
The limited edition car will have a price tag of approximately $200,000 when it goes on sale in December, but the prize will be worth a lot more because it is the FIRST one to roll off the production line!
Start playing at PokerStars today and don’t forget who told you about this when you are cruising in your DBS!

Follow-up to Unlucky
Following my previous post about being unlucky, a couple of things have happened.
1) My run has now stretched to 12
2) I’ve analysed hand histories
I have arrived at the two following conclusions:
a) I am going through a very unlucky spell at the site (whether it is generated by the owners I can’t say, but I HAVE complained a few times in the past, so can’t rule it out).
b) The players on the site are the worst I have ever played against (not counting my wife and daughter).
Part ‘a’ needs no explanation, but I will explain part ‘b’ in more depth.
It is one of the smallest poker rooms on the net, never averaging more than about 2700 players on site at a time. I couldn’t understand why when I started playing there, because the software, in my opinion is the best, but now I know why.
Looking through the hand histories… not only on the hands I had the beats on, but most of the others too… I saw a similar pattern - time after time after time, at least one player won by fishing or playing a VERY weak hand i.e. calling a pot-sized bet holding 2-2 or 3-3 with 3 over cards on the flop and catching a set on the turn or the river.
Obviously, I don’t know how many got ‘pushed off’ a hand, because I don’t have that software which shows everyone’s hands (If you have a copy, I would like to trial it!), but judging by the strength of some of the other hands that were called with (JKos to a 5 times blind raise, A7os to a 4 times big blind raise, etc), I’m betting it wasn’t many.
How long my run of ‘bad luck’ lasts for, only time (and money) will tell. I know one thing for sure… When the remainder of my latest bonus award has paid, I will instantly cash out and won’t be playing there any longer!
NOTE:
I haven’t had a reply from the poker room manager about their RNG, so until such time I shall not provide any links to the site concerned, nor will I mention which one it is. Personal friends of mine know which one it is. If anyone contacts me directly, I well tell them, but, as I said before, to protect the site’s integrity, I will not mention their name in a public arena such as this site.
2007 WSoP Dates
Preliminary dates of the 2007 World Series of Poker have been announced.
The event is starting earlier than usual (1 June 2007), with the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Texas Hold’em World Championship (Main Event) final table starting on 17 July.
Harrahs, the organizers and owners of the WSoP brand, say they are “developing an expanded and well-rounded schedule of events for 2007 that will appeal to both professionals and amateurs.”
As soon as the full schedule of dates is released (”before the end of the year”), I’ll post it here and include the tournament(s) I hope to be entering.
The calendar of events for the 2007 World Series of Poker is here
