Everest Poker players finish strong in Paris
With only 140 players remaining in Paris, 2 Everest Poker players remained:
asheru: 18,000 chips
gabatch: 28,000 chips
With blinds at 300/600, and the average chip stack at 27,840, both players had some chips to play with.
Here they are, preparing for the day:
asheru found the perfect 2 to play: AA. He moved all-in pre-flop, and was called by KK. However, when a K came on the flop, and Asheru could not improve, he was eliminated from the tournament.
Here is asheru in action on day 2:
gabatch had a much different day. Playing his big hands (QQ, AK) masterfully, he built his stack up to 120,000. He then went card dead, however, and was down to 70,000 in chips.
gabatch studying his opponents:
Play was down to the last 28 players, and we were on the bubble. 1 more player needed to be eliminated, and everyone else would finish in the money. It was at this point that gabatch was down to his last 30,000, and picked up a huge hand: KK. However, he was called by Thomas Wahlroos with AK, and the river unluckily gave his opponent an A high flush, eliminating gabatch from the tournament.
At the end of this long day, gabatch was still in good spirits, remarking “Thanks to Everest Poker for letting us live our dream?.
Everest Poker at the WPT in Paris!
The World Poker Tour has arrived in Paris for its only annual stop in Europe. 3 Everest Poker players are there to compete alongside such greats as Marcel Luske, Noeh Boeken, Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot, Tony “G”, and Phil Hellmuth.
240 players entered the tournament, with about half of them starting on Monday, half on Tuesday. 2 of the Everest Poker players - Abbas23 and Asheru - began play on Monday, with Gabatch starting Tuesday.
Here is the Monday recap:
Abbas23 played a bold and aggresive style throughout the day, trying to build a big chip lead before day 2. A good example was his “all-in”, holding 88, after a 3-3-10 flop. His opponent called with 77, and Abbas23 doubled up. He maintained a stack of around 15,000 chips up until the final hand of the night. Holding Kh, Jh, he moved all-in for 18,000 on a flop with 2 hearts. He was called by a pair of Queens, and when no hearts came on the turn or river, Abbas23 was eliminated from the tournament.
Here is a picture of Abbas23 in action:
Asheru played a strong, constistent game throughout the day. He ended day 1A with 17,825 chips. With the average chip stack at 28,000, and blinds at 300/600 (and a 50 chip ante), Asheru will have some playing to do on Wednesday.
Here is Asheru deep in concentration:
